  • What we humans perceive as beauty is an inherited trait. It is naturally built into us to look for certain physical characteristics. Depending on what sex you are, by nature you will look for something in particular. For example, men will look for women who appear fertile. That is why men like women with bigger breast (milk) and curvy hips (child bearing). Women on the other hand many look for men who are muscular and tall (meaning they can hunt for food and protect them). Although, there are common characteristics both sexes look for, which is visually indicative of their health. For example clear skin is a subconscious visual cue that the potential mate is healthy; while skin with lesions and bumps may indicate disease. The reason for our pickiness in people (which many deem shallow) is because of our inherited nature. Back in the "day" people were not as advanced and merely had to rely on what they could see with the naked eye. Today we know different. But what we perceive as pretty or ugly is not all subconscious. Humans are very much led by their conscious mind and they can be influenced by themselves or others (society) as to what looks "good."
  • I've heard that facial symmetry has something to do with human ideas of beauty, but I'm sure it's over-hyped.
  • Whatever the person wants.
  • I honestly believe beauty is skin deep and ugliness goes to the bone. For example, a female might be gorgeous but tends to be mean, selfish and arrogant, which makes her NOT pretty. Another may be average in appearance and be your best friend because he or she has a good heart. Lastly I dont like men who are bald, or shave their heads, does that make me shallow? LOL
  • Here's a fascinating site that answers this question. http://www.beautyanalysis.com
  • I truly do think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I also think that whether you are a male or female defines how you see someone as beautiful or not. For instance my husband thinks that Sarah Jessica Parker is pretty and I don't think she is all that pretty. Then there are some that he thinks are very unattractive and I think they are beautiful. There have been many a person I would not have considered beautiful on the outside, but once I got to know that person better they became to me as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside.
  • I think it would be their mouth teeth and nose.
  • this is a touchy subject for most people but let me tell you pretty people have glowing skin with no scars or freckels or acne and they are skinny but not that skinny for a female 125 to 130 big eyes and full lips and white teeth and hands that have been well taken care of and we all know what pretty girl feet look like not to mention long flowing hair and personality reflects everything and as fucked up as this sounds i would choose to be pretty on the out side over the inside any day because just looking in the mirror and seeing something you don't like will make you ugly on the inside any ways. and i want to hear all your comments now so get writing!!!!!
