  • How about spinach dip? I make really a really good one. 1 frozen box of chopped spinach 1 small can of artichokes 1 block of cream cheese 1/2 tub of sour cream garlic powder to taste cook spinach and drain. while spinach is cooking chop artichokes into bite size chunks. keep spinach on stove over very low heat. add remaining ingredients till mixed smoothly. serve with crackers or tortilla chips.
  • We always bring one of two. Little skewers of cherry tomatoes, basil and mozzarella drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Very easy and fresh. Or we make Aasiago cheese crisps. You can use Parmesan as well. Just grate, plce into meatball-sized piles on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Keep an eye on them, though. We pair them with a store-bought bruschetta or olive tampenade. They're a hit everywhere. For more ideas, I really like Food Network's site, www.foodtv.com for ideas and user ratings.
  • This couldn't be easier and take no cooking. Just get a large dinner plate. Open one 8 oz. package of cream cheese and with the wrapper, smear it evenly all over the plate, leaving a bit of clean edge:-) Then take a jar of great tasting cocktail or chili sauce and spoon a think layer of that over the cream cheese. Open up a can of tiny shrimp or crabmeat, drained and place these all over the sauce and cream cheese. Now, bring along some crackers. We love Triscuits and Wheat Thins. Take up some of the dip with a cracker and eat:-)
  • I like bringing a fresh fruit tray. Good choices are grapes, strawberries, chunks of pineapple, berries, and any melons. Apples don't work as well because they turn brown on the tray (even with lemon juice). Then, make a dip for the fruit with lemon yogurt and cool whip. Just mix the two together and it makes a creamy, sweet, slightly tangy lemon dip that's really yummy on the fruit.
  • Bruschetta with various toppings is easy and usually pretty well-received. Just thinly slice french bread, brush it with olive oil and garlic, and toast, then top with a variety of combinations. Fruit and cheese combinations are delicious, as are prosciutto and fruit. Some variations I like: 1. Goat cheese with black currant jam. 2. Fontina cheese, fresh fig slices, and drizzled honey. 3. Prosciutto with cantalope, grape halves, fresh peaches, or dried apricots 4. Tomato slices with fresh basil leaves 5. Roasted red peppers and basil 6. Smoked salmon and cream cheese/sour cream

  • Italian Meatballs and/or Mini-Smoked Sausage Links (the bite-size ones) in a bar-b-que sauce. Mix 2-3 tablespoons of grape jelly in the bar-b-que sauce. Cover the meatballs/smoked sausage in a slow cooker with the bbq/jelly mix and let cook for 1-2 hours. (easy to make) Guests dip out what they want onto paper plates - MAYBE those with dividers. Make sure to include plastic forks or toothpicks. You MIGHT want to make a batch earlier, so you have a refill! It's a BIG hit at our family get-togethers.
