  • They still try! I'll be 28 tomorrow.
  • Personally, "control" is such a strong term for me. I never felt that my parents tried to control my life. I'm in my 20s.
  • 19. I am 37 now.
  • I got married at 18 and that was it. I made my own decisions. They might have given advice, but I was not controlled. (Shhhhhh . . . I'm 66.)
  • when i joined the USAF at age 18.my father still makes a "suggestion" every now and then.i'm 53 and he's 83...
  • My mom loves to control everyone's lives... it's her way of "caring". I'm used to it and I'm fine with it. She wants what's best for me; I know what's best for me- it's all good.
  • when I joined the Military at age 17
  • I'm 42. My parents were quite good at mixing control and freedom. Best example I can give is that when I said I wanted an earring, my father said, that when I moved out, I could do what I wanted. So, I graduated high school, signed up for the Army (6 month waiting list back then for the field I went into), moved out, got my ear pierced, and have been rather independant since then. Though, they really never tried to CONTROL my life in a mean way.
  • At 45, when my mother gets in range, she controls. But I love her to death!
  • I'm 24, and my mother still has a big hold on me, but luckily I learned at about 20, that mostly when she steps in, she's right, and being a good role model and advice giver for me......In her mind I'll always be her baby, and thats okay for me.
  • My parents lost all hope and control when I turned 16.
  • my parents told me that when i turn 16, i can officially do whatever i want .. im 20 now. so far, so good :)
  • 17, when I started working my first full time job. I'm 48 now.
  • Im 18. they've never tried to control my life completely. But, obviously if i wanted to go somewhere or doing somthin i wasnt allowed to until i as 18 or moved out of their house. of course they try and keep me from doing things and making certain decisons now as well.
  • My parents still try to control my life and probably will forever. But I stopped them doing so when I moved out after high school graduation last year. I'm eighteen years old and a college freshman.
  • They never really did. Rather than set down strict rules, they explained why I shouldn't do certain things and why it would be stupid to do them. That seemed to work, and we never had any real clashes of that kind. I'm 18 now, by the way.
  • I am 30 and within the past 3 mo I have not let my parents control me. Also we are no longer speaking, they controlled me far to long and couldn't let go and did some really messed up things to me, my husband and kids so I have ended our relationship.
  • My dad stopped when I was about 15. My mom still does, I'm 17 now.
  • I am 35 and my parents have never controlled me or my life. Wanna ask my mom??? We may not agree on much but we do on this one.
  • I never felt my parents 'controlled' my life. They raised me, gave me boundaries, kept me safe, taught me about things. I appreciate what they did for me. When I got married, I moved into my husband's home and we formed a new family. But I still listened to my parent's advice and decided with my husband what to do. We went our own way and my parents had let go. But I still respect them as my parents as they will always be that till the day I die.
  • I thought when i moved out at 17 it would stop then when i got married at 21 it would..nope at 23 she thinks she is still in control..and we dont even live in the same state!! But i love her and nod my head and do whatever i wanted to do to begin with :)
  • 20 when i moved away. i came bk and they contrlled me for a few months but then i moved out again.
  • at about 18 or so and even less when i moved out at 22. I am 25 now. Now my boyfriend controls my life, kidding. My parents never really controlled me in a negative way though.
  • I was 17 and I am 58.
  • I have never felt like my parents controlled my life, they tried to steer me in the right direction but let me make my own mistakes so i could learn from them and effectively see they were right to begin with but i control my own life and they are happy to nod their heads in agreement at the things i get up to
  • When I was 18. Close to 40.
  • Dad is still controllin my life. I'm 27.
  • My parents still try to control my life even though I moved out. I'm 32.
  • i was never control by them.....i was always edepented for my self
  • I am still somewhat controlled (not completely, though). Disabled people don't get full liberties. I am 30 years old.
  • I was 40 years old.
  • Mom still tries and I am 47.
  • My parents never really controlled me. Yea they wouldn't let me go out at 10 in the streets, and at that time I thought they were bastards but know that I think about it, bad things can happen to a 10 year old girl in a bad part of NJ. However now at 14, I practically live like a 18 year old. No i wish they would control me (I need my daily fights lol)
  • I've always been resistance to my parents wishes. My parents never controlled me but my grandparents even through death control me! Because they instilled hardwork and dedication my parents instill nothing except crazy talk! I love but im being truthful!
