  • You just need to fill out a form (available online through the official website http://www.festival-cannes.fr) and send in a print, video or DVD of your film. That's why so many independent filmmakers are involved - they have a chance to be seen. Thousands of films are received each year, and they are whittled down to the Official Selection of about 50 films. 'Article three' of the Cannes regulations explain that the Official Selection will only contain: films that have been produced during the twelve months preceding the Festival, which have only been shown in their country of origin, have not been presented in any other international motion picture event and have not been exhibited on the Internet. The Cannes site is a bit hard to navigate, however an interesting read is "HowStuffWorks: How the Cannes Film Festival works: at http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/cannes.htm
