  • I guess lesbians just prefer to be with women. I do see some lesbians befriend other guys.
  • I have bi female friends who slant more towards females than males. I dont think sexual preferences matter its the person themselves, I have never been "tapped up" by either gender and we laugh and joke about everything, we are all human beings with our own diversities :o)
  • Possibly because straight men are more into hot girl on girl action than even lesbians are. Straight women don't really have the same enthusiasm for gay sex.
  • I don't know why you don't hear of it but it most certainly happens! I know several lesbians and they do have straight men as close buddies. However, I do notice that Women tend to look at gay men as being easier to relate to. That could be why there are more gay man/straight women best friendship than lesbian/straight man relationship.
  • Gay men and straight women can get dressed and undressed in front of one another and not feel any awkwardness (as far as I know). Straight men would find that awkward to do in front of lesbians.
  • My husband worked with a very butch gal several years back at a car dealership. She was married to a guy but it was pretty evident that she liked gals and she said to my husband one day "When I get to heaven someday I am gonna have a talk with God why he put me in this jerk off woman's body". My husband would go to the local bar for a drink at lunch and they would talk to each other about firearms and stuff. I come to find out that she was even telling my husband that the receptionist for the car rental liked him and he should go for it with her. Basically, it was just a man with breasts and a vagina.
  • I think in general gays are less threatening than lesbians, and women seek out non-threatening relationships. Guys feel lesbians kinda infringe on their manly turf! That, and the fact that straight women and gays tend to be more emotionally open than straight men and lesbians, so the man / lesbian relationships tend to be more of a drinking-buddy type of friendship than a BFF kind of bond, you know? That being said, that is a vast vast generalization that only accounts for what seems to be true -- there really do seem to be more friendships between gay men and straight women than straight men and lesbians. I have known examples of both types of friendship though, for the record. :)
  • because a lot of lesbians despite there buzz cuts and bib'n'braces realize that having straight men as friends shows them up for what they really are....females!
  • I have male and female friends, both gay and straight. Maybe you just haven't met that many of us that have such a friendship? most of my male friends are gay, however. but there are quite a few that are straight.
  • because straight men are too busy hitting on lesbians
  • Oh, really? I have two close friends who are lesbian. We have a lot in common; profession, literature, humor, hobbies,...and we love women...
  • I have two friends that are lesbians one who seems to get in to a fight with her girlfriend over me which I am a man when were all together we have one hell of a time ,Im sure we'll work it out in due time Im just happy to have them in my life I did'nt know what I was getting into it new to me but and yes we are close Buds
  • I've had several lesbian friends.. not exactly close friends but I don't think it's unheard of..
  • I have a lesbian friend and I'm a straight guy. We get along good.
  • I know many straight men who are fine with gay men and lesbians. Unfortunately, there are still many straight men who think that homosexuality is a joke you play on guys who aren't being macho enough, and that lesbians are only appealing if they look like porn stars.
  • I am a straight female and have enjoyed very close unthreatening emotionally intense relationships with gay male friends. Am now living somewhere else and miss it so. Where to look to find???
  • Because gay men and straight women have alot in common they find other men attractive.
  • totally not true, i have many hetero friends who hang out with the dykes.
  • I think it could be because guys don't want to be friends with the competition. Or they might ant to "get involved" too much in the relationship of their lesbian friend.
  • Actually it does happen alot more than you think! Straight men love butch lesbians! Beer and football all the way! ;)
  • As a straight man, I have one lesbian good friend.
  • I've had friends of both persuasions.. maybe it's the people you hang with..or not.. Probably is though.
  • I am a straight man who, by luck of the draw, had to be castrated because of a medical condition. I have a woman friend who is gay, and will not let me enjoy her body. She refues to have a penis inside her even though it comes without balls. She will give me head, but her vagina is off limits. She does like the fact I have no nuts.
  • as a straight man, i have a couple of friends who are gay men, several friends who are straight women, several friends who are straight men, and one friend who is lesbian. i like each very much. i've probably had more confrontations over the years with straight men and lesbians. maybe testosterone levels? just as a joke, not seriously, a positive plus a positive equals a positive whereas a negative plus a negative isn't a negative.
  • My best friend at work is a Lesbian, a big buch girl from Winnipeg with the first name of Debora, ( Debbie the dyke as she calls herself ), she's an expert at CAD and is the office computer geek and we do lunch together at least once a week. My daughters used to babysit her kids years ago. So, here's at least one strait guy who's a pretty good friend of a Lesbian - and I truly doubt that this is anything rare or unusual.
  • I've noticed that at least with me,lesbians tend to be much more aggressive as if they want to prove that they have bigger nads!!
  • my husband can be friends with a lesbian anyday i dont feel threatened
  • I hate being around a woman who excites me and know I have NO chance to be with, plus she may hit on women or woman I am trying to be with. It's worse than that rude buddy you had in school if he wasn't getting any nor were you.
  • I think one of the main reasons you don't see it a lot is because many butch lesbians have disdain for men. See, gay guys get along with women because they aren't in competition with them, because there aren't many bi-sexual guys. Guys are usually either gay, or straight. While, with women, it's different because there are SOOO many bi-sexual women, that there's a level of competition that takes place. Lesbian women often find bonds with other women in their hatred of men, therefore feeding their inner-fire of hatred towards men, if you will. I also think many butch Lesbians are jealous of men, because they're not one. Go ahead now...hit me with all the speeches about how I'm homophobic and ignorant. God forbid you say anything that's not totally on the fence in this forum.
  • Pretty sure my cousin in a lesbian and all her close friends are guys.. if men werent so pig headed they could be friends with lesibains if they would keep the gross thoughts out of their minds
  • Gay men let there fem side show alot more, straight men arent as in tune with their fem side. For example, a gay man would probably love to go shopping with his girl "friend" where as a straight man would probably not want to spend all day shopping and trying on clothes. they just have more in common. just my .02
  • I have no clue. I get along very well with women, maybe more so than with men. It's simply a preference. That a woman was a lesbian would have no negative effect in us being good friends.
  • All of the lesbians with whom I've had aquaintance hated men, as far as I could tell. That sort of precludes friendship.
  • Because straight guys want to be around the hottest women possible, and most lesbians are far from hot. Not only that, but seeing as lesbians prefer women, there is absolutely no reason for a straight guy to befriend a lesbian.
  • because the straight men are 100% focused on trying to use the lesbians for sex
  • Because gay men and women have the fact that they both like men in common and can talk to each other about them. Not only that they also may both me more effeminent when it comes to fashion, television, relationships and so on. They have tons to talk about. The same cannot be said about many lesbians and straight men. Men and lesbians don't get along because a lot of lesbians actively dislike men, while gay men do not typically dislike women.
  • Are you kidding me! Most men (single) hang with women with the assumption that something may heat up in the future (relationship, either physical or romantic). There would be no chance or sparks to fly with a straight man and a lesbian (unless she was bi)!
  • I think its because straight guys are looking for women they can potentially "score" with and aren't necessarily looking for women to be just "buds". Women on the other hand want friendship over sex (as a whole) and maybe they know gay guys are "safe"? Thats my opinion anyway.
