  • No, no, no, no. I have forums that I'm a regular on but I won't even tell them my first name. There are wackos out there.
  • Yeap! You know neopets.com? I made so many good friends on it, some of which I actually met at Uni! No joke. I met a girl called Rach and after knowing her and contacting her on the net for 2 years we some how came accross at the same uni. She came up to me and said "Maybe I'm crazy. But Francesca, it's me! Rach". She's my best friend today. Funny that. I think I just came to trust them when we talked about real things that happened to us.
  • No, I never have.
  • I have. I was mistaken, though. They violated that trust pretty quickly.
  • Yep. Kedar & Pete. They are like family to me. I don't know what made me trust them, I just did
  • Yes I have and I do. I have been to Jodie's house. I flew nearly 2,000 miles and trusted her to pick me up at LAX. She did. :) There are quite a few others that I trust with my particulars and would have no problem giving them my information. Fun, Misstarrie, gtravels, Barcaluv67, Jay was here, Darkling, retroglide, Stableboy, babycakes, sweetcakes, RosiG just to name a few. I haven't found anything about these people to make me think they are anything other than what they appear to be.
  • Yes, and a lot more, too. I think if I was dealing with a pervert I would be able to sense it.
  • yes I have several online friends. We have sent things to each other and one has called me. I guess I trusted them after many correspondences and seeing lots of their photos of different things on a photo site that we both belong to.
  • No! NEVER ! Only my real first name & age.
  • Well I use my real name all the time. I use my real picture sometimes as well. I've never totally trusted anyone online but I don't hide from everyone either.
  • Yes. Someone I met long time ago. He became a dear friend and sadly I have lost contact with him and I don't know how to reach him. It was just an internet thing but I miss him. He even sent me a bday gift
  • I've trusted four people here on Answerbag with my email address (which is my real name) - I put it on my profile for about 10 minutes, I've mentioned my real age, marital status and I've posted a latitude/longitude that's within a few hundred metres of my house. Also, I've posted a picture of myself in answer to the question, "What do you look like?" I haven't trusted anybody enough to tell them exactly where I live yet, although living in such a remote place as I do I wouldn't see that as a problem.
  • Yes... I fell in love online too. =)
  • I don't put all of my information out there right away, but I'm pretty open with answering something asked of me.
  • It's a simple enough process to trust until i don't trust anymore. I have close friendships outside of ab with a few ab friends ♥
  • I have given out some info, but not all. I dont completely trust.
  • I have one person I've been chatting with for the past 5 years and i trust her more than my own folks.
  • Yes I have and so far I have yet to regret it...I don't trust easily so when I open up to someone I am placing my heart in their hands and can only hope they don't rip it apart.
  • I never have and never will. My 15-year old niece did, tho, and invited the guy over to her house after school (no one else home). She was raped, then tried to kill herself by OD...barely made it. She's screwed up bad now. No...I would NEVER give it out. I might arrange to meet someone in person in a public place and GET TO KNOW THEM PERSONALLY, then...maybe. Sorry, guys; I know this sounds negative, but it is very much the truth. By the way...of COURSE, the guy was never found -- used an "internet cafe" account to socialize on the net.
  • i met the love of my life online..i have trusted and been let down too..i met someone in a chatroom.. went to their house 2 states away and then they filed false charges against me stating i stole from their house.. after that i never trusted to give my name or address to anyone again..they did not obviously win their case since they had no evidence..so i am torn as to if the internet is good or bad. i guess its like real life scenerios.. not everyone is a bad person .but some are.. u have to use common sense and trust your senses
  • If someone really wanted to know all that, they could scour through all my answers. I believe I have told my real age, I have posted a couple of pictures, city of birth, high school, and full name. No, I don't fully trust anyone I meet online, but I also don't believe that anyone is "out to get me."
  • yes..a very few people...I trust them because I believe in going with my gut instinct...I had talked to them for a long time on the internet..and I respected their answers and comments...and I had nothing to lose.
  • I've given all the items of information you mention here on Answerbag. I've even published a latitude/longitude that's just a few hundred metres from my house. I've only given 4 people my email address and I tend to use a hotmail address that I rarely use when I do that.
  • Yes, I have. Twice. I knew them online for a long time. Then we talked on the phone. I trusted my instinct and still didn't allow myself to get into a position where I might be harmed. (I didn't give them my home address until later).
  • Not yet. I can understand people's apprehension when it comes to trusting others they've meet online. If one feels a relationship can come out of it, I would wait for as long as it takes.
  • Yeah, Blank Savage got my photos and real first name. My age is not a big secret. I felt that Blank was a down to earth and kindred spirit.
  • Yes, but we had a mutual real-life in-person friend who had introduced us and who we both trusted.
  • I think it's down to instinct in a way. You can get vibes etc from how someone is answering. It's cliche' to say but the older you get, the wiser you become. I think the majority of people are fine and you can spot a scammer immediately. If they where not trustworthy, then Dating Sites and Ebay etc couldn't possibly work, could they?
  • No, I never give anyone or use my authentic personal data in the Internet, it has become quite dangerous. I have made good friends specially in Tech Forums, they know my real name but we never use it for security, my nick name is in full use.
  • I met my husband online, but he didn't get any of my real info until after I found out his son was in the same class as my son at school and I saw him at a school function and he didn't know I was there (he didn't know who my son was yet) and I got to see him being himself! (He had sent pictures to me at that point) Also, there is one friend that has all my info. He's probably the first person I met when I got the internet, and it started with him helping me out with different things I didn't know about. It's been 10 years, we've still never met (we live on opposite sides of the continent!) and we don't chat as much as we used to, but we still keep in touch and I sincerely consider him a friend.
  • I never totally trust them. I did meet one person though online and met them in real life. I did give them my full name and the city I live in. The reason I did is because she was coming to my home town. When I met her in real life I was in public and I brought someone with me and had my cell phone on me.
  • I never have and never will. Sorry but it's too dangerous.
  • Hi. My name is Beth. I am 34 years old. This is what I look like:
  • Only once in my life did I do that. Her name was Nicole and we were best friends. Well eventually we became best friends and its really sad because I always felt that since I didnt truly see her in real life I couldnt fully trust her. But one day we got in a fight and I felt she was a liar so than I never talked to her again and now no ones my friend :D
  • My husband and some of my friends. Time, lots of time. Phone calls. Meeting them in public with the pic for them to find me.
  • Yes...just one person though. I trust him because there is something about him that feels so familiar--like I've known him forever, although I haven't. He's a good man and worthy of my trust. :D
  • Yep... Twice... First ended up being by GF for two years... Second ended up being my GF for 3-4 years and my wife for the past 3-1/2. They trusted ME, and that made me trust them.
  • I've met 7 people online while I was in college. Thank god that they all turned out to be really cool people and we still talk to this day. We talked awhile before I sent them a picture. There were other's that I talked to that I got a wierd feeling about and cut it short. That was almost 10 yrs ago.
  • this is my real pick, my real age - 19 but name is miri. nobody will know more than that unless they already know me in real life . i remember actually back in middle school - the dark ages for me haha - my nickname was "blue" for various reasons. and i remember a few times a couple people would come up to me and go "you're Blue aren't you" and i'd be like yea and some of my friend's at the end of the year asked me what my real name was so they could find me in the yearbook...lol
  • I NEVER totally trust ANYONE, not even my wife. I had a rough childhood and never could trust anyone. However, there are a couple of people I met over the 'net that I have trusted enough to let them know my real name, age, and address. One was someone I had a long-standing relationship with (I helped him design a website and a game) and the other is an ABer.
  • if we don't trust anybody all of us would not be able to get sincerest answer to our questions..
  • all that info is posted on my page....
  • yes i have given all above mention detailes and make very nice friends ,but i do it on behalf of my instinct, but isugest youngstrs to do not provide details on net! as i m providing. age = 19 yrs india (indore)
  • They haven't violated that trust yet. As long as we keep (both) the same level of trust/respect. I mean they let themselves be on a webcam for me, and pics. Actually online life's so tricky, you don't know who you're talking to... You can talk to someone who's really worth trust. Nevertheless, you shouldn't trust him however his trust is. How can I so-trust someone on the net even though it's now really hard to find someone in the offline life to trust! You can't though consider all online friends just friend-with-benefits, you can guys talk and exchange knowledge. And why'd you trust him? You won't marry him unless something happens and you travel to his country/state.
  • yea i gave someone my adress so he could ship something to me
  • fuck no
  • No, I don't trust them if I don't know them from the real world.
  • Never give your informations to strangers. Depending online.
  • Well everyone on ab knows my real name and age and seen real pictures of me..some I have disclosed more to than others..instict has alot to do with that..If I have a gut feeling that it's someone that I can trust..I don't have a problem with doing so :)
  • Only one person. She knows my name, age, pics, profession, secrets and feelings. My friends know less than she does. When someone shows me they can be trusted with the small things it generally means they can be trusted with the big things. She hasn't breached that trust. I'm very pleased with that.
  • yes, i fell in love with a women abroad and was in contact for two yrs but was nt until had met a few times that found out she was just playing me with many others
  • Yep! and I honestly dont know what made me trust them as I usually don't give all accurate info to anyone. I am now very very close to this person! I guess you just have a gut feeling....
  • Not on the frst meeting with a person, no way. I have my circle of people online whom I trust. But I have known them for many years. They have built their reputation with me to be trusted.
  • I have a few close friends online who I trust 100%. Indeed, one of my best friends in real life (Who I see nearly daily) originated as an online acquiatence - though not really a friend at the time. I have a lot of trust in some other people I know online too, and I'm pretty sure I would have no qualms spending time with them in real life. Most of them already know my name, etc, as I've got them on facebook.
  • Yes i have but first you need to know them a bit more b4 telling them your realy name and age
  • I have, and I married that person.
  • somewhat. the closest that i've come to doing that was with a female that i met on myspace. i didn't give her my real name, didn't send her any pics, but i did tell her what city i live in. i didn't trust her enough to give my name and pic. but, i felt comfortable enough to tell her that much about myself because she lived nearby. plus, i didn't give her enough information that would harm me.
  • They were hot!
  • Well a chest you could lose a hand in helped but I think it was the fact that she was my wife clinched the deal
  • I have and married her.
  • My real pic in profile, but no more.
