  • Teenage sons can't get pregnant :-)
  • Because its their baby girl, My father is still strict on me.Well I am an only child, but Im still his baby!
  • Because there are alot more perverts and freaks out there willing to take advantage of a teenage girl than a teenage boy.
  • Because it is still the girl left holding the baby.
  • As a Father who has gone through this a few times (and more to come) I can tell you it is traumatic to say the least, we want to protect them yet we want to let them go however protection wins, we remember when we were sap rising and we fear for them, anyway it usually turns out alright in the end, but I am still not looking forward to the next one reaching those years :o(
  • Because the stakes are higher with a pregnancy for a girl, that is a given, also, with all the craziness going on in the world, young women are more vunerable to being raped, kidnapped or killed by some wacko, so we have to protect our girls in a different way.
  • They all hold onto that saying "Boys will be boys". They are expecting more from their daughters though. As stated earlier, son's can't get pregnant. Also, they want a classy woman to be proud of, not some daughter that is living in a single wide trailer with 3 kids & not married. I was a teenage mother, even though my parents had a tight grip on me, but not tight enough. It really did impede my life because they were expecting so much more from me & so was I. Instead of going to medical school to become a dr. I had to settle for EMT school for 4 mos, then paramedics for 2 yrs. Girls ultimately have to pay the price for their actions more than boys. There are to many teen boys that get a girl pregnant & walk away. in the meantime, that girl has to either raise a baby alone, have one & give it up for adoption, or live with the fact knowing that she had to kill an innocent baby because of carelessness.
  • Because they have still not understood that both could get AIDS.
  • because girls can get preganant
  • i don't know what you're talking about, i get treated pretty strictly (unless they don't find out ;3)
  • Trust me......if you don't, you are a grandmother before you turn 40. And I feel I was pretty strict with my daughter.
  • I don't have a son but I think I would allow him to stay out later, I can't say for sure. I'm very old fashioned & it infuriates my daughter
  • I think. Boys don't get pregnant and people know boys can be rowdy, but girls are supose to be nice. I'm not sure I only have sons!
  • I think girls are at higher risk for being victimised. Think, rape, pedophiels, under-age prostitution. I think girls in general are easier to be taken advantage of and therefore need better protection and education by parents.
  • they don't want to be Grand parents of their 11 year old daughter.
  • Because all parents are kooky like that.
  • This is a very good question. I think it goes back to traditional sex roles and sexual control. Historically speaking, the sexual behavior of females has always been more rigidly controlled. The logic in it makes no sense, however. Yes, females get pregnant, but they don't get themselves pregnant. Your son is just as likely to make you a grandparent as is your daughter. Child support payments are always there, even if your son isn't actively involved in the child's life. Both males and females get STDs. Both males and females can contract HIV and AIDS. In the end, it comes down to the old sexist sexual stereotypes that "boys will be boys" and girls must be prevented from having sex. Tradition often has little to do with logic. It is simply behavior repeated so often that very few question it.
  • dont now but your right i had to be in at 9.30 at 18 my brother stays out all night or comes in after 12
  • Personally, I think it has to do with the view that girls are "weaker" than boys and need a little more protecting. Society is just now opening up to women being the power houses instead of just the men and we're still, slowly but surely realizing that girls are much tougher than we give them credit for. It may not be a conscious thought, it's probably more like a sub-conscious thought (I had a bush-ism! Yay! But I digress...). But it's definitely still in people's minds.
  • I agree with wogkitten. Girls are at a higher risk for being victimized. It's not they are weaker or anything like that. It's just that for some reason, they are targets to some people.
  • First of all I think its stupid how people raise there girls with a stricked hand more than boys, maybe if parents raised there sons with more discipline there would be alot more better men out there than criminals and rapist and everything else, my son is getting just as much discipline as my daughter.
  • Because its always been that way I suppose, a daughter used to be seen as something fragile and to be treated like delicate china, whereas a son was expected to stand on his own two feet and be a man even as a child. Old habits die hard.
  • Because it is more accetable for boys to boys. Girls are supposed to be innocent and sweet. Not the loose girl who gives it up to every and anybody.
  • because they are girls and u have to b i guess.i really wouldnt know cuz i have a son.
  • BECAUSE BOYS CANT GET PREGNANT AND DOING THAT COULD PROBLEY MEAN EDUCATION LIFE IS OVER
  • Because they're too dumb to understand that boys are dumber than girls and while a girl may get pregnant, the boy is stuck working his ass off only to have his money taken away in child support and he never has a life again. Parents need to not let boys date until they're 25. It takes that long for their brains to mature (scientific fact, not personal opinion). And the more girls the guy gets pregnant, the worse his life is because that's the more money he loses in child support. A lot of girls are smarter than parents give credit for and, unfortunately, a lot of boys are dumber than parents give credit for. Parents need to treat kids equally, not discriminate based on sex. Yes boys will be boys (idiots). Should girls be punished for that, particularly if the girl used birth control? I think not.
  • If you have a son, you only have to worry about one dick in town, if you have a daughter, you have to worry about every dick in town... Fair: no. True: yes.
  • I honestly didn't. (I say "didn't" because my girls are grown and gone, and my boys aren't) I am hard now, and always have been hard on my boys. Recognizing that my boys are not as level headed as the girls, they've always had earlier curfews, etc... And they damn sure know better than to argue about it. They are worked harder than the girls by miles... They may run out and get a girl pregnant, but I guarantee they understand that they will do the honorable thing, and support the child. Now, on the other hand, I never had boys show up to grab the girls for a date and not meet me. After we got through visiting, they understood that that 12:01 AM meant unconsciousness with simultaneous bowel evacuation.
  • I don't know...I have asked my parents that soooooo many times. My opinion is that it is because of...BOYS! :P (They don't like, nor trust boys around their daughters.) The girls in my family grew up with much less freedom than my brother. I'll probably be the same way when I have children. :D
  • I think it's because there's more presumed risk. Parents just see more bad things that can happen with the girls than the boys, even if it's not accurate. The idea that a girl can't take care of herself as well as a boy can, even if it's not so.
  • Mom's used to sleep around, and want better for their daughter. Dad's used to be sleeping with other peoples daughters and don't want that happening to "daddy's little girl".
  • you havent met my parents have you?
  • I would like to know this! I just turned 18 and I have 3 brothers!
  • Girls have more to lose, and more to gain!
  • Because guys exist.
  • It's the old double standard. They don't want to have to worry that their teenage daughters will get pregnant. These days, it's often young men who are at more risk of getting injured, bashed up, or otherwise preyed upon but I don't think society has caught up with that concept. In some ways, I would be more worried if I had sons that they would get into a fight, be in a car accident or motorbike accident or get mugged. Boys tend to take more risks so are more likely to be in dangerous situations such as pub brawls, drunken driving and so on.
  • I raised 2 boys and 2 daughter by myself in the '70's when gender equality was a real force. I had the same rules for my boys as my daughter and vice versa. Home at the same time . . . after age 18, if you're not coming home that night, then call me and let me know. They still have complaints. Mother's never do it right. They're getting paid back in spades now.
  • Moms, especially those that got pregnant when they didn't want to, don't want their daughter doing the same thing. But I never allowed myself to be disciplined so my mom gave up trying!
  • For two reasons, both social in nature: (1) Society puts more restrictions upon women, and (2) early pregnancy is deemed to be a problem of the girl's family and not a problem of both the girl's and the boy's family. If you question the first reason, think about this: How many parents tell their daughters: "go have lots of boys now that you're young and non-committal" or "do it plentifully before getting married and comitting to one man". Yet many fathers tell the flip side of that to their sons. Personally, I think is wrong. Discipline and understanding should not be uneven across the sexes.
  • Because as a dad I have firsthand experience of what teenage boys are like and how they think after all I was one.
  • Pregnancy abilities
  • I reckon its a fear in parents for their daughters,a protection instinkt that isnt carried to sons,it is not a wrong thing, but all children need to be protected and at the same time given their space
  • Because women are supposed to "comform" and many parents, willingly or unwillingly, are a vehicle to this precept.
  • Beause in today's society and sick world a girl can get pregnant and the boy leaves her or she can get raped or beaten or overall more bad outcomes can happen for her then for boys!
  • Most parents these days are teenaged daughters, “wake up”
  • The old double standard.
  • Because baby makes 2 mouths to feed!
  • Being the brother of three sisters, I am going to assume that you are joking.
  • Well first off. The girls get pregnant and the boys don't. "And if they do then you're going to be RICH$$!!" But seriously another big reason is protection. Girls are more vulnerable to being hurt emotionally and physically, getting raped, and going crazy!! Teenage boys for the most part are pretty stable and can take care of and defend them selves. But we must remember no teenager is typical!! After all I have a friend that's a girl and in seventh grade the principal called her into the office and touched her inappropriately. She beat the hell out of him and sent him to the local emergency room. So don't under estimate the girls.
  • I am a father of 2 beautiful girls. I think that saying parents are more strict on girls is an unfair geralization. However, I think parents may stress over daughters more as they don't need to worry about their son coming home Pregnant. I teach my son the same lesson I teach my daughters. abstinence is the best way to save your self from heart ache and disappointment.
  • The same reason they treat their female cat or dog more strickly ,,,they are stuck with the unplanned puppies/kittens /grandchildren ,, I know this is not a good thing ,,but seems the way it is ,,with most. Though I have a girl and boy ,,I trust them both ,,and treat them the same ,,offer any help /advice I can give to them .
  • It's a dangerous world out there. My daughter knows she has it tougher than her older brother and sometimes hates us for it. I hope & pray that someday she will understand
  • I have a 12 year old daughter who I am very protective over I don't want her makibg the mistakes I made. Pregnant with out a college education she way better than that she has potential that why I so much harder on her then my two boys!
  • I once heard a psychologist explain it this way: Girls can fall pregnant and can become vulnerable easily and usually the parents have to sit with the baby. Knowing that boys will be boys, the parents know that the son will naturally express sexual urges. But if he does he won't sit with a baby to nurse and raise. I think it is dangerous to think this way. The same rules must apply to everyone.
  • Sons don't come home pregnant.
  • I don't have a brother so I wouldn't know that. All I know is my parents were very strict with me.
  • They are trying to be more protective of their daughters so they don't get pregnant and ruin their lives and shame the family.
