Thanks for your response Texasescimo, You are right David accepted worship as a king, but he did put the Lord God before him. I'm a bit confused over Rev 3:9 for Jesus uses the word "thy"which means "your," Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy/your feet, and to know that I have loved thee. I agree with 2 Sam 14:4 she did fall on her face in front of the king, as one pays respect to a king, kings are often thought of as divine beings in ancient history, i.e divine rulership. And Jesus/Yeshua/Yahshua is a Lord, King and priest, who's heralds God's name Yhwh's salvation Yah meaning Yahweh, and shua meaning salvation, for it is the fullness of the Godhead that dwells in him and he does the will of the father. The word in greek is proskuneo which means to kiss (like a dog licking his masters hand), fawn or crouch, prostate oneself, adore, worship. It does state that High Rabbi Priests also had their hands kissed. I did search myself and Jesus is definitely worshipped... The wise men bowed and worshipped him and gave him gifts (matt 2:11), Matthew 21:9And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna(save, rescue, saviour) in the highest!” John 12:13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” Matthew 14:33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Matthew 28:9 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. John 20:28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” And when the Cornelius fell at Paul's feet to worship him Paul told him not to, When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. Acts 10 25 -26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am a man.” And when John fell down to worship the angel he did not agree with it, Rev 19:9-10 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” 10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to ithe testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. I found the following verse interesting Philippians 2 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:" "But made himself of no reputation," and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the "likeness of men:" And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it

Also 2 Peter 2 - 4 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Sorry for the length, I hope all is well with you, it's exceedingly cold here in England, I believe we may be in for a very cold winter, we have escaped the last two with relatively milder weather.

Have you ever consulted any other translations and/or concordances? _____ Consider proskyneo, often translated as worship. ____ https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G4352&t=KJV ______ to kiss the hand to (towards) one, in token of reverence among the Orientals, esp. the Persians, to fall upon the knees and touch the ground with the forehead as an expression of profound reverence in the NT by kneeling or prostration to do homage (to one) or make obeisance, whether in order to express respect or to make supplication used of homage shown to men and beings of superior rank to the Jewish high priests to God to Christ to heavenly beings to demons

(Matthew 4:10) Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’”

On a side note, some believe that Jesus is the Father. They cite verses such as these: (John 10:30) I and the Father are one.” (Isaiah 9:6) For a child has been born to us, A son has been given to us; And the rulership will rest on his shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. (John 14:9) Jesus said to him: “Even after I have been with you men for such a long time, Philip, have you not come to know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father also. How is it you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Curious as well as to why Jesus is telling his followers how to receive worship, according to the KJV anyway? Luke 14:10 (KJV) But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

Also, why did Jesus say it is The LORD(Jehovah) you must worship instead of Me or Us? Matthew 4:10 Then Jesus *said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND [fn]SERVE HIM ONLY.’”

Curious too, if you say that David accepted worship as king, how do you reconcile: (Matthew 4:10) Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’”
  • Yes, Jesus accepted worship to confirm the essence He shares with the Father. Matthew 2:11 "And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary His mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered Him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh." Matthew 28:8-9 "So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, "Greetings!" And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him."

On a side note: anybody who tells you David was worshiped to throw you off guard does not know what they're talking about, cause Jesus is the only one who shares the same glory with the Father. John 17:5 "And now, Father, glorify Me in Your own presence with the glory that I had with You before the world existed."

Does 1 Chron 29:20 in the KJV throw people off guard? How do you feel about Revelation 3:9? What does Proskyneo or Proskuneo actually mean?
